My philosophy

We all have our own goals and our own obstacles in the way, but one thing we have in common is that we can all achieve them.  Whatever your running goal - go faster, go longer, go without injury, or just go have fun - I can help you find your own path to success.

Whether we're aiming to complete 5K, a marathon or even an  ultra, the only person we're competing with is ourselves and the craziness of our lives.

As a working family man trying to be a good husband, a good dad, as well as a good runner, I know both how hard it can be.  But also that it can be done.

For me, first and foremost training has got be fun.  But that doesn't mean a little science and bit of structure can't help us along the way, and keep us smiling.

I love all aspects of running, be it track , road or off-road.  But its out on the trail where my heart really lies.

1-2-1 coaching

From £15 per week

Range of coaching packages to meet your own personal needs, from a light-touch online only option through to a hands-on in-person approach.

All coaching packages booked in 6-week blocks include a FREE bespoke training plan for the duration of your coaching.

Bespoke training plans

From £60

Bespoke training plans with daily session-level detail to match your needs and help you achieve your goals; be it a 5km Parkrun or a 100-mile ultra.


Designed in 3 or 4 week training blocks with an event-taper and delivered via the (free) Final Surge training app.

360 Runners Review

£80 for 1.5 hour session & report

In-person session to get to know you, your running history, your life challenges and your goals. Then we'll get out and watch you run on a local track, park or treadmill to find out what works and what could be better, so YOU know how best to tailor YOUR training to help YOU reach those goals.

Having Ian as a coach has helped tweak my training so it is far more structured and favours quality over endless miles.  Ian has been great at adapting things to accommodate my individual requests, so the way I'm given information about my training suits my needs.  He's also very understanding when life gets in the way of training!
